What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is based on the philosophy that the body has a natural tendency towards health and wellbeing.  At its core, Yoga or union aims at creating a greater sense of wholeness, aligning the individual self with the collective, higher self and strengthens feelings of joy, peace and connectedness.

"I feel more centered, happier peaceful and relaxed"

"I feel better able to be calm during stressful times, i express gratitude more freely..."

At Yoga Wellness, we are committed to empowering individuals to explore their wellbeing through the application of the philosophy and practises of yoga for the body, mind and heart.

Yoga Sutra I.12 and I.16 explain that to be established in a stable state of wellness (our true state) the practice of yoga needs to be appropriate to the individual, pursued over a long period of time with reverence and without attachment.

The Yoga therapist then is merely the conduit for sharing of knowledge and providing a supportive environment.  Yoga Wellness comprises a team of expert yoga teachers trained in the art and science of applying yoga philosophy and practices for specific health and wellbeing concerns.

Typically Yoga Therapy Consultations last 60-75 minutes and can be conducted from a number of Melbourne’s leading yoga studio’s or in the comfort of your own home or office.

What to Expect:

  • The teacher, through discussion and exploration with you, will sequence a practise that not only honours where you are in that moment, but also takes you on a journey to realising your own goals for wellness.
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing; all props and mats will be provided
  • And be sure to bring along any/all related medical and specialist reports, x-rays and contact details. Yoga Therapy is a complementary medicine and we at Yoga Wellness like to ensure all our advice is in agreement with and supportive of the medical advice your practitioner has prescribed for you.
  • At the end of the session you can negotiate with your therapist as to whether you would prefer regular ongoing support for a period to learn and modify the home practise you will have been given, or whether you would prefer a review appointment after a determined interval.
